Overview of the Announcement Portal
ChangeGear's Announcement Portal is designed to communicate upcoming changes to a wide audience, both inside and outside your organization. It provides an effective notification system to all stakeholders in the change process throughout the change life cycle via e-mail and a web-based announcement portal.
Note: You may not have access to this ChangeGear feature depending on your permissions.
While most service announcements are sent via e-mail, some are also published to ChangeGear's Web Announcement Portal.
Note: Announcements must be published to the ChangeGear Web Announcement Portal for users to view announcements on the Web.
Accessing the Announcement Portal
There are three types of users who use the Announcement Portal: stakeholders, staff, and administrators. Stakeholders view the Announcement Portal for announcements that may impact them. Staff create and process announcements, while administrators manage ChangeGear.
Stakeholders
You can send the following link to anyone inside or outside of your organization, and they can view Announcement Portal page and service announcements in a web browser without a ChangeGear license or login credentials:
http://<ChangeGearServer>/CGWeb/Announce/ViewAnnounceSchedulerCalendar.aspx (Replace <ChangeGearServer> with the name of your ChangeGear Server.)
Staff Users
Staff users can view announcements by navigating to a module, (e.g., incident, problem, change module), from the primary ChangeGear navigation menu and selecting Announcement Portal from the Other category.
You can also view announcements from the Announcements tab of a Change Request on the ChangeGear Web or the Desktop Client. Open a Change ticket and click on the Announcements tab to view and maintain the announcements associated with the Change Request.
Note: You must have announcement privileges to add, edit, delete, review, or view announcements. Please contact your ChangeGear administrator to have these privileges set.
Announcements can also be automated using Business Policy Automations, which are accessible in the Desktop Client in the Administration module, under the Announcement Management node.
